PDX Latino Gay Pride is Coming!

Live ‘la vida loca’ with PDX Latino Gay Pride!

Three big events over the span of two days will definitely give you time to

celebrate and enjoy life in P-town.

Latino Gay Pride is located at the Jupiter Hotel, so make a weekend of it by booking a room and partying with us from dusk to dawn (and then from dawn to dusk!).

The Festival is the highlight of the PLGP celebration and brings together nearly 800 – 1000 attendees each year. The main stage has a line up of traditional and cultural performances, local & regional entertainers, community leaders, public officials, and non-stop DJ music. Delicious Latin-style cuisine as well as margaritas, cerveza, and a signature cocktail keeps everyone in a festive mood. The Sponsor Exhibit and Vendor Area includes community resource information, volunteer opportunities, local and national businesses.

An Elegant Night Out

In dire need of an evening out to feel like a celebrity? Well you’re in luck, the Q Center’s 5th Annual Winter Gala is right around the corner! The Gala will be occurring January 26th, 2013 at Castaway Portland from 6 PM – 11:30 PM. This year’s theme is Fire and Ice, for a night of “passion and confidence” as the Q Center moves into its next chapter. This event allows the Q Center to showcase all the great things it does for the community and have a fabulous time doing it.

This is the largest fundraising event of the year for the Q Center, which is the only LGBT center between the California border and British Columbia. Money made from your ticket purchase helps maintain the center and allows it to continue to provide resources and respond to important issues that affect the LGBT community every day.

This classy evening will be hosted by KGW Newschannel 8’s Reggie Aqui and Stephanie Stricklen. Two time Grammy Award Winner Matt Alber, who is responsible for one of the most iconic, romantic gay videos of all time, will be performing live during this memorable evening.

You still have a little time to find the swankiest outfit to hit the town for this classy event that supports a great cause, but purchase your tickets soon before they sell out!

For more information about the Gala click HERE. To purchase your tickets click HERE.

If you are traveling from out of town for this event, get a room with us and take advantage of our Keep Portland Queer package.

Jupiter Hotel Featured in Instinct Magazine

The Jupiter Hotel was recently featured in the October issue of America’s number one Gay Magazine, Instinct. The article titled, “Cloudbusting: The Pacific Northwest,” showcased different locations in the Northwest focusing on Seattle, Vancouver, and of course Portland. Jupiter was highlighted for it’s sassy style and numerous LGBT events provided at the hotel. With the Doug Fir Lounge, guests can check out live tunes and walk a few steps to crash in their room.

So once you get over the gorgeous Jaymes Vaughan on the cover, open it up and read the article to see all the great things Portland has to offer the LGBT community. Take advantage of our Keep Portland Queer package and get a room with us to decide for yourself.

What’s Happening This Weekend? We’re at Vancouver Pride, Baby!

Vancouver BC Pride is an annual event our team looks forward to every year and this one promises to be another long weekend of parties, festivals, parades and general debauchery. <insert evil grin here>

If you’re in the hood, come visit us at our booth during the festival (#89, if that means anything. We’re not even sure where it’s at!). We’ll be giving away a trip to PDX, tons of goodies and hugs too.

Yay! Pride is HERE! PDX Weekend Happenings

My oh my does Portland have quite the fabulous pride-filled week ahead of it, and lucky us, it’s one of our favorite weekends! Really. It’s like a holiday… so, HAPPY PRIDE!!

  • 6.14: Tonight is a very special night for the Q Center and the Gay & Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest (GLAPN): Queer Heroes Northwest celebrates the opening of their exhibition at the Q Center. The Queer Heroes NW project is a local movement to honor LGBTQ pioneers and leaders that were nominated by the greater LGBTQ community online during Pride month. The reception will be held in the Aaron Hall Gallery from 5:30-8PM. After the Q Center, the exhibition will be hitting the road so catch it while you can!
  • 6.14: Join the sweaty and fierce fun at the 1 year Anniversary and Pride Kick Off at Queerlandia! There’s a $5 cover, but who cares- that’s inside is priceless; plus, $1 of all admissions is donated to Bradley Angle’s LGBTQ Survivors of Domestic Violence Program. There will be performances by DJ Hold My Hand, Chelsea Starr, Dazzle Punch and many more accompanied by scandalous vendors and a fabulous photobooth. You’d be crazy to pass a photobooth up! Dance the night away at Embers from 9PM-2AM. Sounds like a party you won’t want to miss.
  • 6.15: Pride Week just keeps the parties coming! On Friday at the Leftbank Annex, the annual dance party fundraiser, Gaylabration, will be kicking off at 9:30PM. This year, there’s THREE DJ’s bumping beats for your dancing pleasure: DJ Skiddle, DJ Chris Cox and DJ Vize. Tickets are $25 Pre-sale and $35 at the door, but if you feel like a VIP, it’s $100. A portion of the night’s proceeds support Basic Rights Oregon and their fight for LGBT Equality. What’s better than dancing the night away AND building good karma?
  • 6.16: Here’s something for everyone to enjoy. The Portland Gay Men’s Chorus will be performing their Summer of Love: Music of the Beatles show at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall this Saturday from 7:30-10PM. • Red Dress: ReDEMPTION announced that they raised more than $15,000 from this year’s event. Not only was the Red Dress Party a blast, but it brought the organization’s total charitable contributions to $252,000!
  • In honor of Gay Pride Month, SOHITEK Gallery is hosting a queer group art show, F**king Gay, addressing the stereotypes, assumptions and ambiguity surrounding the LGBTQ community. Go take a peek at their post-Pride Parade party this Thursday or at some point this month- it’s a definite must see.
  • We all knew pop-star Ke$ha was a proud supporter of the LGBTQ community, but who she was a minister. She performed a commitment ceremony for her close friends in Malibu, Calif last weekend. Nothing beats a celeb with a passion for equality and love for all.
