Weekend Happenings

Jupiter Bike TourWhat up, sunshine?! We can’t speak for you lovely and loyal followers, but we are looooovvviiiing this golden weather! (What we don’t love is how obviously dirty our windows are now that they’re dry. Don’t judge.) The extended & welcome break from the rain is the perfect excuse to lounge in our courtyard with a copy of PQ Monthly, outside the Doug Fir with a beverage, or take a few of our onsite bicycles for a sun-soaked tour of PDX. Just don’t forget the slather on the SPF to protect those pretty faces!

Happening this week:

  • In honor of Foster Care Awareness Month, the PDX Q Center is partnering with Boys and Girls Aid and the Department of Human Services to host a special screening of From Place to Place tonight from 6:30-8:30pm. In addition to the film, which follows the lives of young adults who ultimately aged out of Montana’s foster care system, there will be a discussion featuring an LGBTQ Foster Care Panel. Admission is based on a $5 suggested donation.
  • This Friday, May 11th, celebrate five years of domestic partnership and non-discrimination laws in Oregon. Join Basic Rights Oregon in preparation for the 2012 Annual Equality PAC event and help Swing the House (and Senate) toward pro-equality majority in Salem. Doors to the Sheraton Portland open at 7pm and invite you to partake in food, drinks, prize drawings and line-dancing elected officials. Shine your shoes and your belt buckle, and register now for VIP or general admission to the themed event.
