Weekend Happenings: Red Dress Edition

Red Dresses

This week we are doing what we do best: Shopping! Okay, okay. Second best 😉 With Lily as our runway coach and sensei, we’ve been practicing strutting our stuff in every dress with even the slightest resemblance to the color red in sheer excitement for REDemption. We’ve also been flirting with the shuttle drivers to make your rides to and from the Jupiter more enjoyable. You’re welcome.

Happening this week:

  • One poet, three lovers. Fuse Theater Ensemble presents “Sonnetscape” Thursday April 12th at 8pm. Hosted by the PDX Q Center through Saturday, these performers have come together for the world premiere of a story you never imagined, with the adaptation of 154 Shakespearean sonnets. Admission starts at $15 in advance and $20 at the door with discounts for students, seniors and groups of ten or more.
  • On Friday April 13th, the PSU Smith Memorial Student Union will host a Queer Students of Color Conference from 7:00PM to 10:00PM. The event, which is free to attend, will include a variety show of performances and workshops through Sunday. The conference is student-initiated and led, providing resources for community change to Queer Students of Color and their allies.

REDemption

  • The day we’ve been anticipating has finally arrived. No, not the rapture. The Red Dress Party: REDemption…End of Days kicks off at 8:00PM Saturday April 14th at the NW Warehouse. The annual fiesta is brought to you by Red Dress PDX, a charitable organization that supports gay youth, and those living with HIV/AIDS and other serious diseases. Dress up your best Jessica Rabbit at the Jupiter and catch one of the shuttles every 30 minutes to party the night away with exclusive entertainment, food and full bar.
