Weekend Happenings: St. Valentine’s Edition

This weekend we are spreading the looooooove at the Jupiter Hotel. Valentine’s Day is one of those that is a gift and a curse. It is either a gentle reminder to appreciate our significant others, or a blatant alarm that we’re still flying solo. Lucky for you, we do our best to appreciate our significant others (read: you) every day! And as long as you come running back into Lily’s arms, you’ll never really be solo. Happy Valentine’s Day, little lovebugs.

Happening this week:

  • Sugar Does Portland on Friday, February 10th at Refuge. The Sugar Art and Fashion Show is traveling America in search of the freshet emerging talent- And Portland is up next! The show collects artistry genres of music, fashion, photography, graffiti and fine art into one space. The night kicks off  at 8pm with an artist and photography showcase featuring 20 of Portland’s greatest and continues with a fashion show featuring 15 underground local fashion and accessory designers. Dress to impress for the photogs, booths and Mad Girl Diaries filming, plus outlandish surprises in true Sugar form. Get tix in advance and bring cash to drop on the pop-up shops.
  • Ahhh snaps! In Other Words hosts Awkward Open Mic this Saturday, February 11th at 6:30pm. This month’s edition will honorably present Erich Haygun, star of the one man spoken noise performance art rap band The Debate, as a feature of the event. After the open mic, Haygun will follow up with his impressive words and beats. The event, organized by Q Poetry, is entirely open to public and promotes a queer-positive space. Entry is based on a sliding scaled suggested donation of $5, all of which benefits
  • Valloween

    Ditch the Valentine and dig up your favorite disguise. Valloween takes over the Bossanova Ballroom at 8:20pm on Saturday, February 11th. This holiday spectacular combines Halloween tricks and treats with all the Valentine’s Day fancy. Join protagonists Danny and Mereditch through a mystical graveyard journey with live musical accompaniment.
